The Environment Agency flood defence scheme in Bitts Park attracted £40,000 of additional EA funding for environmental enhancements.
Of the £40,000, £8,000 to be used as the required 10% grant contribution for the Swifts pollinator project, with the remaining £32,000 to be spent in Bitts Park on a project to improve biodiversity and the public realm.
The Finance team have been consulted as part of the process to ensure the money received is accounted for in line with the Financial Procedure Rules.
To ask the Environment Agency to deliver the enhancements as part of the scheme which would have achieved a reduced impact compared to delivering through the City Council via local contractors.
To not go forward with the Swifts project and the additional £72,000 of funding it attracted.
